The Ancestral Coast: An Irreplaceable Piece of New Zealand Heritage, Hand-Turned in France.
This timepiece is a personal expression of my dedication to woodturning. This particular clock is a collaboration with nature, created from Birds Eye Totara Burl—a wood so rare, finding a piece of this magnitude is a challenging and rewarding event. I consider this clock a truly irreplaceable collector’s item.
The Wood’s Story, as I Saw It – I spent weeks planning how to present this wood. I intentionally preserved a striking diagonal contrast across the clock’s surface to tell its story:
-
The Unfinished Legacy: One side retains the original, rugged exterior of the burl. When you touch it, you feel the density and history of the New Zealand forest where it grew.
-
The Weathered Path: The opposing side shows wood that is deeply weathered and textured. It is a testament to the tree’s survival, a history I felt compelled to share.
I chose to finish this piece exclusively with pure Linseed Oil. This allows the magnificent Birds Eye figuring and the natural textures to speak for themselves, exactly as nature intended.
-
Dimensions: $260 \text{ mm}$ Diameter $\times 45 \text{ mm}$ Thickness.
-
Material: Rare New Zealand Birds Eye Totara Burl.
-
Finish: Natural Linseed Oil.
The passion you see in this clock is the standard I uphold for everything I create. I personally invite you to browse my full Master Collection to see what other unique treasures have emerged from my atelier. Every piece represents my commitment to skill and the beautiful woods of the world.
I sign every piece as a guarantee of its authenticity and quality. When you acquire this clock, you are not just buying an item; you are commissioning a permanent sculptural installation from my life’s work.
